Zoomed in promo shot of the AYANEO 3 in black.

After teasing the device for the last week or so, AYANEO has revealed the AYANEO 3.

The full spec sheet is still yet to be revealed, but AYANEO has said the device will come in two flavors: A presumably cheaper option sporting an LCD screen and a second, more premium offering, with a lush OLED display. Both screens come in at seven inches wide, which is 0.4 of an inch thinner than the Steam Deck’s.

The real news here is the choice of CPUs AYANEO has gone with for the different models. The Ryzen 7 8840U should offer up stronger performance than the majority of handhelds (the Zotac Zone uses the same processor), while the AMD AI 9 HX 370 has the potential to make the AYANEO 3 one of the faster handhelds out there.

Of course, we’ll need to see what the GPU solution is before we get too excited, but this could be one to keep an eye on.

As is customary with these teases, we’ll likely have pricing info and a full list of what’s what in the lead-up to release. AYANEO tends to launch products through IndieGoGo, with info dropping around a week-ish before the full campaign goes live. So check back soon…

In the meantime, if you’re looking for a more cost-effective solution that targets Android gaming and emulation, check out my review of the superb AYANEO Pocket Air.
