Between the G5BT gaming headset and the QD35 desktop speakers, Edifier has been on a solid run of late. The company’s hook is simple. Rather than gloat, Edifier lets the products speak for themselves. Want a sound profile that leaves competition questioning why they bother? That’s Edifier in a nutshell.
How well do the more pricey S1000W speakers rank in an industry filled with so many choices? Let’s dig in.
One of the big elements in the S1000W speakers is the aluminum bass unit. If you’re a bass-head, you’re going to love it. Lows pound hard and fast while – somehow – avoiding the usual crux of obliterating other sound levels.
When the bass drops, and it does DROP, I can still pick out the nuance of mids and highs afforded by the S1000W. High twangs of guitar riffs hit with precision, rap spot stacks remain crystal clear, and snares rattle cleanly through the bass inferno.
What I will say is if you’re not into bass, these won’t be for you. Even when I turned the bass dial down to its lowest, it still hammered. You can lower it further by setting up an equalizer and manually bring the boom down yourself, but this is an extra step not everyone will need.
Ease of Use
Setup is nice and simple. Plug the cables in, turn the S1000W on, then use the remote to switch over to Bluetooth mode (the S1000W is also compatible with Apple Airplay, Amazon Alexa, TIDAL Connect, and Spotify Connect).
From there it’s just a case of adding the S1000W to your device and loading music through your preferred app. The S1000W uses Bluetooth 5.0 as well, meaning the connection is stronger and less likely to drop. During the 20-hour review period, I’m yet to lose connection or suffer any kind of weirdness. The Edifier App is still basic, but it does the job.
