A native PC port of N64 title Star Fox 64 is coming to PC.

Announced via The Harbour Masters 64 Discord group, the port is a recompilation of the N64 classic (think reverse-engineered and coded for PC).

No release date for Star Fox 64 on PC was mentioned as of yet, but the team did release a video of the title in action, complete with a rather lush 16:9 aspect ratio. Check it out below.

A whole host of different N64 games have so far been ported to PC, including Mario Kart 64, Perfect Dark, and Goldeneye among others.

If you’re wondering if these games can be played on Steam Deck, the answer is possibly. I had a lot of success running the decomp of Super Mario 64 on Steam Deck, although getting mods to work was a bit hit-and-miss.

So, why would you want to play a PC port over using an emulator? In short, the PC version lets you change the game’s native resolution, framerate, switch from 4:3 to glorious 16:9, and play with custom mods. It’s essentially the best way to play retro games with modern features. Just keep in mind, you will need your own dump of the game.
