The folks behind the excellent GB Operator are making a version for the Super Nintendo.
It’s still early days, so don’t get too excited just yet. But, as the official Epilogue Twitter/X account posted, work is underway to create a SNES version of the Operator.
For those new to the world of Epilogue, the GB Operator lets users dump their Game Boy games into a ROM format that can then be used in most emulators. As the dump isn’t a hastily created one downloaded from online, the chances of any problems are also lower.
The new device, which I assume will be called the SNES Operator, looks like it works in the same way. Epilogue also says gameplay from the dumped ROM is “smooth, fun, and the PCB design is sleek.” Nice!
In my review of the GB Operator, I said “It’s fast, accurate, and the sheer delight of using actual hardware is something emulators can’t compete with.” In short, it’s a killer bit of kit that anyone into preservation really needs to grab.
