The excellent Cyberpunk 2077 is now Steam Deck verified.
For those unaware, verified status means the game will work on Steam Deck without the need for a workaround. Here’s Valve’s wording to explain it:
- All functionality is accessible when using the default controller configuration
- This game shows Steam Deck controller icons
- In-game interface text is legible on Steam Deck
- The game’s default graphics configuration performs well on Steam Deck
Prior to the verified status, Cyberpunk 2077 performed surprisingly well on the Steam Deck. In our performance review and settings guide, we praised the game’s ability to keep to a framerate in the high 30s and low 40s in the open world, and 45 frames in indoor areas. It could also be played from start to finish without too many game-ruining issues.
“What is amazing is how lush Cyberpunk 2077 still looks,” we said in our review. “Despite the compromises to get it to a mostly stable framerate, it still blinds in all the right ways. If the PC and console versions didn’t exist, Cyberpunk 2077 on the Deck would be one of the best-looking games out there without question.”
The game obviously lacks the same visuals as its PC and current-gen console counterparts, but it still looks incredible on the Steam Deck. If you’re yet to check it out, do yourself a favor. You can thank me later.
Ishin! runs exceptionally well on the Deck, running at a stable 60 frames with lush visuals to boot. Sons of the Forest, meanwhile, is a bit of a mess on Steam Deck. Constant crashes and poor performance hinder what is clearly going to be a great game someday. Still, it’s only just launched in early access, so the problems aren’t a dealbreaker just yet.
