High-end gaming and audio company Audeze has revealed the Maxwell 2 gaming headset for Windows, PS5, Xbox Series S|X, macOS, iOS, and Android.

The Maxwell 2 incorporates the company’s ‘SLAM’ technology, also found in the CRNB2 headphones, which essentially throws in improved spacial immersion and harder-hitting bass, alongside the Maxwell 2’s 90mm planar magnetic drivers.

The adjustable headband strap has also had a bit of a makeover in the form of air holes. I’m sure there’s a better term for them, but that’s what they are. Air holes.

One of the, admittedly few, gripes with the original Maxwell was the very okay mic. In the Maxwell 2, Audeze is keen to point out the new mic houses a newly-upgraded ‘FILTER’ AI noise removal feature with twice the bandwidth.

On the connectivity front, the Maxwell 2 packs in both Bluetooth 5.2 and a USB-C dongle for those wanting snappy response times. It’s also got LE Audio and LDAC support for those (like me) looking to use the thing to listen to music.

I couldn’t see an exact capacity, but Audeze says the battery is capable of lasting for over 80 hours at 80dBA and featutres USB-C fast-charging.

The Maxwell 2 will retail for $329 for PlayStation and $349 on Xbox.

If you haven’t checked out my review of the original Maxwell headset, you really should. The original Maxwell is one of those headsets that everyone raves about and you almost don’t expect it to live up to the hype. Then when it does, and it replaces your everyday drivers, you can’t help but be shocked.

Just be careful with those extra-thin drivers. They offer up some legitimately industry-leading sound, but they don’t like being dropped repeatedly, something I learned the hard way!
