Valve has revealed the Steam Deck is getting some big new upgrades.
Two new models will be available from November 19, with the original 64GB and 512GB models being retired. Goodnight sweet princes. You have served us well.
Both of the new models feature a 1280 by 800 HDR OLED display and come with the choice of either 512GB or a meaty 1TB of storage. That’s not all either. They also include a 50Wh battery – up from the previous 40Wh – which Valve says should net you between 30 to 50 percent more playtime. How true that is, I can’t say. It’s definitely an improvement, though.
Downloading games should be faster now as well thanks to the introduction of Wifi 6E, and the new models will be 30 grams lighter than their LCD counterparts. An updated and larger fan also means the new models should run cooler.
Why is the OLED screen such a big deal? That’s because as well as crisper visuals, OLED screens offer more vibrant colors and in the new Steam Deck’s case, uses less battery power.

What’s more, Valve currently has the original models on offer until the stocks are fully depleted. The 64GB Steam Deck now costs $349/£309, while the 512GB comes in at $449/£389.
In terms of pricing, the Steam Deck, both of the new models are still much cheaper than the current high-end consoles, namely the ASUS ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go.
